Deutsche Telekom plans to market system to locate moving objects in factory next year

Deutsche Telekom said it has partnered with Trumpf, a company producing machine tools and lasers for industrial manufacturing, to develop a way to locate items in factories using 5G campus network infrastructure, with the aim to market it next year. The system being tested by Telekom and Trumpf uses a mobile 5G campus network to transmit data from moveable objects fitted with tags that emit ultra-wideband (UWB) radio waves. Receivers use these radio waves to locate the objects with an accuracy of up to 10 cm to 30 cm.
