Finnish operator Digita said municipal councils can take advantage of the rising number of devices connected to the mobile network by leasing unproductive space on their property as sites for base stations. In a blog post on the website of municipal affairs journal Kuntalehti, Digita's director of site services Teemu Lampila said the growing need for digital infrastructure offers property and building owners an opportunity. Digita sub-lets the space for mobile base station use, thereby improving the utilisation rate and generating more income for the municipality.
