Digital Society to appeal Swiss data retention laws

Online consumer association Digital Society will bring an appeal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, challenging the government's metadata retention regulations. In November, the Federal Administrative Court dismissed a complaint by the Digital Society against the government's retention regime, which requires ISPs to store metadata on Swiss citizens for six months. Digital Society intends to appeal this decision in the higher court, invoking protections within the Swiss Federal Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights.
