DNB spins off Vipps amid mobile payments rivalry

DNB, which used to be called Den norske Bank, said that more than 100 small Norwegian banks are to become joint owners of its Vipps mobile payment service. The aim is to bolster the service in the face of regional and international competition. Vipps is present on mobile phones, the internet and physical shops, and will become even more widely available this year, said DNB CEO Rune Bjerke, also incoming Vipps board chairman.
