DRC raises USD 60 million from 3G licence sales

The Democratic Republic of Congo has awarded 3G licences to four mobile operators at a price of USD 15 million each. La Prosperite reports that the licences became effective on 5 July and that the ICT ministry has issued payment schedules to the operators. Minister Kin-Kiey Mulumba reminded operators that their licences can be taken away if they fail to meet payment obligations. The four companies are Airtel, Africell, Oasis and Vodacom Congo.
