Dutch mobile phone market up 4.1% in Q1

The mobile phone market in the Netherlands grew by 4.1 percent year-on-year in volume in the first quarter, according to figures from GfK. Sales were up 12 percent. Smartphones accounted for the bulk of sales, followed by feature phones and then phablets, defined by the market researcher as phones with a screen of 5.5-7.0 inches. These accounted for around 3 percent of units sold. Handsets thinner than 9 mm showed growth of 60 percent in sales, while phone with a touchscreen accounted for 80 percent of unit sales.
