E-commerce sales up to a third of technical consumer goods

E-commerce accounted for around a third of the total value of technical consumer goods (TCG) sold globally to consumers in the first half of 2018, according to data from GfK released ahead of IFA 2018 in Berlin. The growth in global online sales is still driven by APAC and above all China, were the online share of technical consumer goods sales reached over 30 percent, an impressive result in view of an internet penetration rate of 55 percent compared to over 80 percent in the US and Europe. China already has the biggest internet community with 773 million internet users in a total population
