E-Plus, O2 merger to affect German High Street - study

Wednesday 7 August 2013 | 12:08 CET | News
The planned acquisition of German mobile network E-Plus by rival Telefonica could result in major changes to Germany's shopping streets, where mobile operators have a strong presence, according to research by consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle. The merger will change the balance of power with the number of local shops. According to the research, the four largest mobile operators have around 1,100 local shops on the 170 biggest shopping streets in Germany. At the moment Vodafone leads with around 305 shops, followed by E-Plus with 280, O2 (Telefonica) with 275, and Deutsche Telekom with 235.
