EarthLink to cut 900 jobs in cost-cutting drive

US ISP EarthLink has announced plans to cut 900 jobs as part of broad effort to lower operating costs and reduce losses. The company will close its facilities in Orlando, Florida; Knoxville, Tennessee; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and San Francisco and substantially reduce its presence in Pasadena, California and Atlanta. The restructuring will result in a one-time charge of EUR 60-70 million and is expected to lead to USD 25-35 million in cost savings this year. EarthLink also adjusted its earnings guidance. It now expects third-quarter sales of USD 290-300 million, versus a previous estimate
