EASSy cable cut hits Vodacom Tanzania internet service

Vodacom Tanzania says its internet users have experienced slow speeds because of a cut on the Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (Eassy) which carries its data traffic through South Africa. MD Rene Meza said the company had no option but to route all its internet traffic through the Seacom submarine cable in the Indian Ocean. Meza said the increased traffic load on the Seacom cable is slowing down internet service. He said the technical team is working hard to assess the magnitude of the damage caused by the fibre cut at Mtunzini Bay which lies 29.5 kilometres off the shore of the Atlantic
