EC clears partial deregulation of Polish broadband market

The European Commission has approved the Polish regulator UKE's proposed regulation of wholesale broadband based on a regional breakdown of the market. The UKE determined that 76 areas in the country had sufficient competition due to the presence of alternative operators. As such, incumbent Orange Poland should not be subject to regulation of access to its network in these cities. The deregulation is expected to encourage investment in new fibre networks and competition in these areas.
