EC plans policy on online content for mid-2008

The European Commission plans to make policy recommendations by mid-2008 on how to better regulate and promote the market for online content. Following a consultation in 2006 on the matter, the EC said it sees a need for strengthening the European content market and consumer influence on the market. It is starting a public consultation to prepare policy recommendations and plans to set up the Content Online Platform where stakeholders, including consumers, can discuss the issues.
