EC rallies industry support for protecting kids online

The European Commission unveiled a new industry commitment designed to help protect kids online, as part of Safer Internet Day 2017. Developed with tech and telecoms companies, broadcasters, NGOs and Unicef, the self-regulatory initiative looks to combat harmful content, harmful conduct and harmful contact online. Companies signed up to the code agree to work against harmful practices such as cyberbullying, sexual extortion and exposure to violent content online through three strands of action: promote enhanced use of parental tools, content classification and other tools for online safety
