EchoStar, Thales partner on PPDR mobile satellite services

EchoStar's subsidiary EchoStar Mobile will collaborate with Thales on the development of mobile satellite and terrestrial services for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) in France and throughout Europe. Under the partnership, the two companies will also work on specialized mobile satellite and terrestrial terminals, and will explore ways to improve the performance of PPDR connectivity using a complementary ground component. The services will operate over the S-band mobile satellite network which will be provided by the EchoStar XXI satellite, launched on 8 June.
