Econet Wireless warns it might switch off network because of power cuts as diesel runs short

Zimbabwean operator Econet Wireless has warned that it might be forced to switch off the network during electricity cuts if the situation persists. Econet apologised to its customers following the network downtime on 20 July, which it said was triggered by outages at power company Zesa affecting its network operations centre in Harare. Thousands of subscribers nationwide were unable to make calls or conduct transactions using EcoCash.
