Econet Wireless Zimbabwe steps up battery and solar power use as poor economy hits quarter to November

Monday 20 January 2020 | 10:24 CET | News
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has intensified deployment of hybrid batteries from Tesla as well as solar equipment to avoid revenue losses arising from power cuts. Alternative power sources helped the company to raise voice, data and text volume for the nine months to November. However, volumes for the quarter to end-November 2019 were lower than the quarter to August 2019 after headline tariff adjustments made in August and October, it said in a trading update.
