Ecuador outlines details of 1,300km Galapagos subsea cable project

Ecuador's government has outlined further details of its project to build an undersea cable connecting mainland Ecuador with the Galapagos Islands archipelago at an event featuring the country's president Lenin Moreno and Minister of Telecommunications Andres Michelena. Around USD 50 million has been earmarked for the 1,300-kilometre cable running from the Manabi province to the archipelago, with Galapagos Cable Systems, Xtera and Prysmian teaming up for the rollout.
