Ecuador starts registration of mobile phones

Ecuador has begun IMEI registration to allow mobile phones to operate in the country, reports El Comercio. Importers of devices and people bringing them in to the country must check on a system to see if the IMEI code is enabled. The registration is related to the one introduced by the Andean Community of Nations (CAN).
