Ecuador to tender spectrum in four bands next year

The Ecuadorian government is planning to tender spectrum in the 700MHz, 1700MHz, 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz bands next year as part of plans to extend available spectrum from 26 percent to 68 percent, reports Ecuador Universitario. Under the "Digital Ecuador" strategy unveiled earlier this year, the government had announced plans to allocate 700MHz and 2.5GHz spectrum by the end of this year to further boost LTE coverage but that sale will now be delayed until 2020 and be added to the AWS and 3.5GHz tenders to pave the way for 5G, said Minister for Telecommunications and the Information Society Andres
