EE set to announce STB-based TV service

UK mobile operator EE will announce plans to launch a TV service on 9 October, writes the Financial Times. The operator will offer TV alongside home broadband and mobile to address the quad play market, already targeted by BT, TalkTalk and Virgin Media. EE is expected to offer Freeview channels alongside pay content on demand from various media groups. The TV service is likely to be made available on mobile and tablets as EE keeps to its mobile roots. EE would not comment on the matter ahead of its announcement.
