EE's UK emergency phone contract faces parliamentary probe

A UK parliamentary committee launched an inquiry into a government contract won by EE to replace the national emergency services communications system with a 4G alternative, the Financial Times reported. The GBP 1 billion Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP), awarded in December 2015, will replace the existing Tetra system from mid-2017 but work is behind schedule.
