Egypt blocks two websites after Huawei complains of fake news

Tuesday 27 August 2019 | 11:28 CET | News
President of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Makram Mohamed Ahmed, blocked the websites al-Akhbariya and al-Sabah News on 24 August over their reports about Chinese company Huawei, potentially harming Huawei's business activities in Egypt and violating the code of journalistic ethics, reports The Independent. The decision was made after Huawei filed a complaint, accusing the websites' editor-in-chief Marwa Abu Zaher of publishing fake news.
