Egyptian smartphone maker SICO could expand to Africa as early as end-2018

Wednesday 10 October 2018 | 09:22 CET | News
Egypt's first smartphone maker plans to enter the wider African market by the end of 2018 or early 2019. Sales director Mahmoud Ali told Reuters that Silicon Industries Corporation (SICO), which already exports to the Gulf, intends to start selling phones in Kenya, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Nigeria, Mozambique and Ghana. Ali said Africa is a promising market with less competition than in the Gulf, especially for affordable phones.
