Eir boosts Q1 EBITDA by 11%, confirms EUR 1 billion network spend

Irish operator Eir has reported EBITDA of EUR 138 million for its first-quarter ending 30 September, up by EUR 13 million or 11 percent year-on-year. Revenue was down by EUR 4 million or 1 percent year-on-year to EUR 312 million. The company said it would invest EUR 1 billion over the next five years to develop its national FTTH network and upgrade its mobile network. It also plans to insource hundreds of customer care and sales jobs in the current financial year, as well as taken on IT developers and 50 new 'open eir' apprentices, covering up to 1,000 people in total.
