Eircom to extend fibre network to 300,000 more premises

Irish operator Eircom has announced plans to extend its FttP network to an additional 300,000 rural homes and businesses in 1,070 communities by 2020. This will expand the company's fibre footprint to 1.9 million premises and will increase the operator's fibre investment to EUR 400 million over 5 years. Today half of Ireland, 1.2 million homes and businesses, already has access to high speed broadband on Eircom's network and the company said it remains on track to reach 70 percent of the country by the end of 2016.
