Eircom to offer 1 Gbps in 16 towns by end of August

Irish operator Eircom will offer 150 Mbps, 300 Mbps and 1 Gbps FttH services in the first sixteen of 66 planned towns and cities by the end of August. The operator has published wholesale reference offers for the products. CEO Richard Moat told Silicon Republic that the new 1 Gbps FttH services will launch on a wholesale and retail basis at the end of August. The company is building the service in 16 towns at present and has run a trial in Belcarra, Mayo, delivering 1 Gbps to 50 premises. He would not reveal pricing.
