El Salvador's president Salvador Sanchez Ceren has announced that the country has decided to opt for the Japanese-Brazilian ISDB-Tb digital TV standard as it prepares to migrate to DTT over the next two years. The decision to implement the ISDB-Tb standard is the first step in the process to switch off the country's analogue signal, with the first digital broadcasts due to air by the end of 2018. The president added that communications regulator Siget has drawn up a roadmap for the preparation of the National Plan for Digital Terrestrial Television.
