El Salvador to hold 120MHz spectrum tender in H1

Wednesday 18 January 2017 | 11:29 CET | News
El Salvador is set to hold an auction that will see 120MHz of spectrum awarded to operators for mobile telephony use in the first six months of this year, reports local daily La Prensa Grafica, citing Blanca Coto, head of telecommunications regulator Siget. "We're in the process of identifying which companies would be interested in participating. The reception has been good among both local and international companies," said Blanco. El Salvador has only awarded 208 MHz of spectrum, or 16 percent of what the ITU recommended back in 2015.
