Finnish operator Elisa reports it has the fastest 4G network in Finland in terms of download throughput, according to the results of a study conducted by European Communications Engineering Oy (ECE). The study placed Telia second and DNA third. The average download speed on Elisa's 4G network was 41.26 Mbps, while Telia's download speed was 36.59 Mbps, and DNA's network transferred data at 35.88 Mbps.

ECE carried out field studies in March to measure the speed of 4G networks in a total of 35 towns and municipalities covering 60 percent of Finland's population. Network speeds were measured in towns, as well as on roads between the towns. A total of 1 million data rate samples were taken during the measurements, amounting to 330,000 per operator. The study showed that, on average, Elisa's 4G network was the fastest in terms of download throughput, taking into consideration the measurements taken in towns and roads between them.

Elisa also reports that its 4G network currently covers 99 percent of the Finnish population.
