Emilia-Romagna connects 1,000 schools to broadband network

Tuesday 1 May 2018 | 14:46 CET | News
The northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna has announced that over 1,000 schools have been connected to the broadband network of in-house company Lepida since the so-called 'SchoolNet' project was launched back in 2010. A total of 1,006 schools can now access free high-speed internet, with the region aiming to connect all schools by 2020, half of them with fibre-optic technology, thanks in part to funding made available by Italy's Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR).
