Emilia-Romagna to connect all schools by 2020

The northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna has announced plans to bring broadband access to all schools by 2020, half of them with fibre-optic technology, thanks to a further EUR 20 million in funding made available by Italy's Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR). The ministry has already invested over EUR 18 million to digitalise around 300 schools and open training workshops in Emilia-Romagna. Other objectives of the new agreement signed with the region include developing the digital skills of teachers, students and citizens via innovation labs and educating parents,
