Employment laws threaten telco sector - Bitkom

German digital business union Bitkom has warned the IT and telecommunications sectors could suffer if the Federal Council passes new laws regulating temporary workers. The Federal Council is currently considering legislation which would prevent businesses from using temporary or contract workers for more than 18 months at a time. While the law is targeted at "wage dumping," the practice of using low-wage employees to replace full-time staff, Bitkom warned IT contractors and consultants could also be affected.
