Polish company Energa Operator has chosen the CDMA network of Polkomtel again for the provision of data transmission services in an open tender held in January, reported Telko.in. Under the four-year contract, Polkomtel will provide data transmission services using 3GPP and CDMA to Energa Operator to run its own information and measurement systems: AMI (smart metering), SCADA (control of network traffic) and TAN network (redundant TCP/IP connections).

The total value of the contract is EUR 5.87 million plus VAT (PLN 24.5 million). Originally, the contract value was estimated at EUR 6.31 million.

According to Energa's statement, it does not have a technological alternative for the provision of the packet data transmission service from any other operator than Polkomtel for communication of terminal devices with the application CBP operating at Energa, using its own telecommunications infrastructure.

The contract covers the provision of maintenance of the infrastructure for two-way data transmission services and M2M services in the technologies 3GPP and CDMA, using the built and operational telecommunications infrastructure and SIM and R-UIM cards installed in the customer's devices so far.

The contract covers connection and data transmission services for 38,925 3GPP lines and 4,500 3GPP and CDMA lines with IP Mobility function; configuration of services and implementation of the function IP Mobility version 2.0; and consulting services for 3GPP and CDMA.
