Entel launches WiMAX service in Bolivia

Bolivian telecom carrier Entel has launched its WiMAX broadband service in the cities of La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Sucre, Tarija, Oruro, Potosi, Trinidad and Cobija. The wireless network will complement the operator's existing ADSL coverage. In each department capital, Entel offers ADSL and WiMAX coverage. In April, Entel awarded the contract to Alcatel-Lucent to build the WiMAX Rev-e network based on the 802.16e-2005 standard.
