Entel Peru hit with USD 200,000 misleading advertising fine

Monday 24 September 2018 | 11:47 CET | News
Entel Peru has been fined a total of PEN 664,000 (around USD 200,000) for a number of breaches of the country's unfair competition act, reports Telesemana. The cases date back to 2016, with the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property (Indecopi) finally ordering the operator to pay the fines for claiming customers would be given benefits including data-free WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger use under the "Yapa" promo. However, Indecopi said the promo didn't include WhatsApp calls and wasn't applied until after the second top-up.
