Entel revenues down 7% in Q4, EBITDA plummets 45%

Chilean operator Entel reported fourth-quarter revenues down 7 percent year-on-year to CLP 431.3 billion from CLP 461.8 billion in the year-earlier quarter, impacted by lower mobile termination rates in Chile and lower equipment revenue. EBITDA plummeted by 45 percent to CLP 59.1 billion from CLP 107.4 billion, due above all to costs related to the launch of the Entel Peru brand. Net income also fell substantially to a negative CLP 7.8 billion, compared to a profit of CLP 30.8 billion in the year-earlier period. The company's total mobile customer base dipped by 1 percent to 11.8 million
