Equitel users transact over KES 115 bln in 2015

Equity Bank's mobile banking platform Equitel's customers transacted over KES 115 billion in 2015 compared with KES 4.7 billion in 2014. The number of transactions increased from 13.7 million in 2014, after the platform had been launched in August, to 151 million in 2015. Equity Group Holdings CEO James Mwangi said the shift to Equitel has helped the bank cut its operating costs.
