Ericsson to deploy CAT-M, NB-IoT for AT&T

AT&T and Ericsson are displaying CAT-M and Narrow-Band IoT (NB-IoT) 3GPP standards-based technologies at Mobile World Congress and expect to start trials later this year. The new software will support a new generation of IoT apps and improve device performance on AT&T's LTE network. Cat-M technology supports next generation devices such as wearables and utility meters, while NB-IoT supports devices such as smoke detectors, pollution monitors and industrial/agricultural sensors. Ericsson will also deploy power-saving mode and extended DRX for AT&T, technologies that can extend the battery life
