Ericsson said it has been selected by Hi3G (3 Scandinavia), operating as 3 Denmark and 3 Sweden, to upgrade parts of its mobile network and expand 4G coverage ahead of 5G. It will do this using its Radio System. It will also expand and upgrade Hi3G's microwave transmission network with E-band technology in preparation for 5G. It includes the split mount radio Mini-Link 6363.

Ericsson will swap existing equipment in favour of its Ericsson Radio System solution. This will enable Hi3G to deploy higher order MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) and massive MIMO, thereby improving coverage and capacity on the Tre network in Sweden.

Ericsson will also deploy Mini-Link microwave technology, including the Mini-Link 6363 and Mini-Link 6352 for E-band on HiG3's microwave transmission network. This will prepare for expanding capacity of the Danish and Swedish grids in preparation for 5G.

The new Mini-Link 6600 portfolio provides very high capacity, low latency, high numbers of 10 GE ports and L3 VPN support in a compact format. By combining Mini-Link outdoor units and indoor units, every network scenario, including multiband systems, are supported with superior performance and lowest possible cost of ownership.
