Ethiopian govt to replace Woredanet with new backbone infrastructure to boost internet access

Ethiopia's Ministry of Innovation and Technology is set to replace the old WoredaNet with the latest national backbone infrastructure to increase internet access in the country, ENA reported. This was disclosed at a forum on 22 January to discuss the government initiative to enhance the national core network and competing infrastructure among stakeholders. Innovation and Technology Minister Getahun Mekuria said that in terms of internet speed, connectivity and capacity, ICT structure is lacking compared with the size of the population.
