Ethiopian parliament approves creation of independent telecoms regulator

Ethiopia's parliament has approved the creation of a telecoms regulator as part of the country's push towards reform in the sector, Bloomberg reported. On 13 June, lawmakers approved the Ethiopian Communication Regulatory Proclamation, which establishes an independent communications regulator, accountable to the prime minister and responsible for promoting competition.
