EU awards EUR 7.65 mln in Wi-Fi funds to 510 Italian towns

Friday 17 May 2019 | 09:12 CET | News
The European Commission announced that a total of 510 Italian town councils will receive EUR 7.65 million (EUR 15,000 each) in EU funds to develop free public hotspots in the second WiFi4EU tender. Italy was in fact one of 3 countries, alongside Spain and Germany, to be awarded the maximum number of vouchers available to a single Member State in this latest call. Under the terms of the project, the Wi-Fi hotspots must be up and running in public squares, parks, hospitals and other public spaces within 18 months and must stay in operation for at least 3 years.
