EU launches 3D cultural heritage digitisation pilot in Ferrara

The European Commission has announced the launch of a new pilot to digitise a cultural heritage building in Italy in 3D as part of a project incubated at the University of Ferrara. The ultimate aim is to boost both the number and the quality of 3D models of European cultural heritage artefacts, monuments and sites, which has become an urgent priority in the face of recent events such as the fire at Notre Dame in Paris or the theft from the Green Vault in Dresden.
