EU trust service providers see more security breaches caused by malicious acts in 2018

The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) counted 18 reports of security breaches at trust service providers last year. A total of 28 EU countries and one EFTA country took part in the annual summary reporting. Of the total, malicious actions and system failures were the dominant cause of the reported incidents. System failures accounted for 39 percent, against 36 percent in 2017, but malicious actions made up 39 percent, a strong increase from last year's 7 percent.
