Eurona Telecom to bring 20 Mbps broadband to rural Spain

Spain's secretary of state for telecommunications and the information society (SETSI) has granted rural broadband provider Eurona Telecom a licence to use spectrum in the 3.4-3.6 GHz band in towns of less than 100,000 inhabitants. The Spanish company has thus announced its intention to bring 20 Mbps broadband to rural communities throughout Spain and to set itself up as an MVNO to offer internet, fixed telephony and mobile packages at "highly competitive" prices. Eurona Telecom hopes to triple its turnover to EUR 60 million by 2016. It currently operates in Spain, Portugal, the UK, Ireland
