European cable revenues grew 2% to EUR 26 bln in 2017

The European cable industry posted revenues of EUR 25.9 billion in 2017, up 2 percent year on year but down from the 4 percent growth rate achieved in 2016, according to the latest findings from the European Broadband Cable Yearbook compiled by IHS Markit and Cable Europe. A total of 69.2 million homes in Europe used cable services, up from 65.1 million at the end of 2016, equal to 36.3 percent of all TV households on 31 December 2017. The continent's total revenue generating units (RGUs) rose to 127.5 million.
