European cable revenues up 2.4% to over EUR 23 bln in 2017

The European cable industry delivered steady growth in 2017, with total revenues up 2.4 percent year on year to EUR 23.43 billion, according to a report by IHS released to coincide with Cable Europe's annual Cable Congress in Dublin. TV continues to be the largest source of revenue for the industry, but broadband is driving the biggest growth increase by far (+5% in 2017). Year on year, the number of broadband subscribers rose by 4.6% (or 1.6 million subscribers), allowing the industry to reduce its reliance on TV, with the success of DOCSIS 3.0 also helping to drive the rise in internet
