European m-payment users triple to 54% of consumers - study

The number of consumers regularly using a smartphone, tablet or wearable to make payments has more than tripled in the past 12 months, according to Visa's 2016 Digital Payments Study. The survey of more than 36,000 online consumers in 19 European countries revealed that 54 percent of consumers regularly use a mobile device to make payments for a range of activities, compared to just 18 percent last year. What's more, a year ago some 38 percent of the people surveyed said they had never used a mobile device to make payments and had no plans to do so, whereas the number has now dropped to 12
