European Parliament to vote on cybercrime directive in July

The European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee has passed a draft directive aiming to facilitate prevention of cyber-attacks and to boost police and judicial cooperation in this area. The full Parliament will vote on the draft directive in July, with formal adoption by the European Council soon thereafter. Under the proposed directive, member states would be required to respond within 8 hours to urgent requests for help in the event of cyber attacks through better use of the existing 24/7 network of contact points. The draft directive also introduces common rules for criminal law
