European VoD market to grow to EUR 6.5 bln by 2019 – study

Western European video on demand (VoD) revenues are set to soar by over 60 percent year-on-year in 2016 before continuing to grow at an annual average of 17 percent to reach EUR 6.5 billion by 2019, according to a report from ITMedia Consulting. The entry of OTT players such as Netflix offering subscription video on demand (SVoD) service is set to drive the market over the next few years, with the big three of France, Germany and the UK accounting for 57.7 percent of revenues in 2016, rising to 58.8 percent in 2019.
